Went in today to meet with the electrician and check out the framing on the “room within a room” in the Client Theater / Sound Design / Color Enhancement suite. Very cool!
Looking at the back of the Client Theater. You can see how the inner wall pulls away from the outer wall. There’s approx. an 8″ gap between the two walls at its widest point. The wall gradually angles back on both sides creating kind of a reverse bow window effect. This is all designed to keep sound from reflecting around the room too much when doing sound design.
Looking at the front of the room. You can see how the sides angle in to meet the flat front wall. Those pipes in the floor will bring the power and all cabling to the audio console.
Looking down the gap of the right side wall. The wall on the left is the inner room. The wall on the right is the outer room. The gap in between starts out at 6″ here at the camera and narrows down to 2″ at the far end. This creates a slightly angled wall on both sides of the room so there is no sound reflection back and forth across the room.
Here’s an overhead view of the back wall, here you can really see how the inner wall curves out from the outer wall. It’s also a bit taller so it sits higher than the back wall. This allows us to drop the ceiling from 10′ in the back to about 9′ in the front. Again, creating another angle.
A view looking towards the front of the room. Here’s that same gap between the outer and inner walls like you saw from the floor. Neat concept to build the room like this, I’m glad I asked Patrick Belden to help out with the design.
And finally, the brick is officially finished! Only thing left to do is clean it all up with a pressure washer which will happen after the parking lot and sidewalks are installed. Awesome job by the crew!
