Traveling coast to coast, “We Are” brings you the amazing people and towns where Georgia-Pacific calls home. In this episode, we travel south to Palatka, Florida. Palatka was the largest town in Florida through the early 1900’s though it’s hard to believe it today as you drive through this beautiful small town. Home of the St. Johns River and it’s world-class fishing, Palatka is also the home of the Dallas Family. Beginning with Mom back in the 1960’s, the entire family has over 150 combined years working at the Georgia-Pacific mill. You’ll meet “The Inventor,” Wade Dallas who has three patents and is always tinkering with new ideas, along with his older sister Karen who is celebrating 42 years at the mill. Come along as we meet this amazing family, try out Florida’s oldest diner, relive high school football memories and enjoy the Florida Azalea Festival. We might also discover what’s in Wade’s “Super Chest.”

In this episode of “We Are,” we travel south along Interstate 65 to Brewton, Alabama. A quintessential ‘small town’ that’s home to the Alabama Blueberry Festival, hot rods and 76 years young Glen Freeman. ‘Mr. Glen,’ as he’s known, started his career at the Brewton Pulp and Paper Mill in 1958 and shows no signs of slowing down. His love of hot rods and grown into one of the largest classic car shows in the area. Come along as we explore blueberries, BBQ, classic cars, meet a Mayor named Yancy and a woman NOT named Patty. We might get a little wet along the way, but nothing dampens the enthusiasm of this great little town. About the series: Georgia-Pacific is more than just a brand. Chef Keith Schroeder (High Road Craft Ice Cream) takes us to Jaemor Farms in Alto, Georgia where he discovers the best pumpkins for cooking, and some other local delights. Then he returns to his home kitchen and shows you — step by step — how to make a great tasting pumpkin & spice ice cream with some chef-style extras to make your Thanksgiving presentation memorable.

With a high pedigree in nonsense & geekery, Fork U uncovers how food plays an important part in science, culture and our daily lives.

Meet Glen Freeman

In June of 1959, there were still only 49 states, Dwight D. Eisenhower was President, less than 1% of American households owned a color TV, and seat belts were first introduced. That was also when Glen Freeman showed up for his first day of work. 58 years later, he’s still on the job, at the GP Pulp & Paper mill in Brewton, Alabama.
